Arrival at Varna Airport and accommodation in the area of the Northern Bulgarian Coast for 3 nights

21 May 2008
Today we will be in the area around the Durankulak and Shabla Lakes to photograph Golden Oriole, Roller, Paddyfield Warbler, Red-footed Falcon, Bee-eater, woodpeckers, etc.

22 May 2008
We will be in the area around Cape Kaliakra exploring the cliffs and the adjacent natural steppe. Here we have good chances of photographing Eagle Owl, Long-legged Buzzard, Rose-colored Starlings, Pied Wheatears, Alpine Swift, Stone Curlew, etc.

23 May 2008
Another day along the Northern Bulgarian Coast. We will spend this day depending on how successful we have been the previous two days.
We can go further south and visit some nice areas around Varna, with good chances of photographing Grey-headed, Black and Syrian Woodpeckers, Golden Oriole, etc.

24 May 2008
Today we will drive from the Northern Coast to Sakar Mountains where we will be staying in the area of Topolovgrad for one night.
We will continue south along the coast with a few stops in the riverine and oak forests for Black, Grey-headed and Middle-spotted Woodpeckers, Semi-collared Flycatcher, Short-toed Treecreeper, etc.

25 May 2008
We will visit some very good spots for photographing Eastern Imperial Eagle, Long-legged Buzzard and other birds of prey feeding on the Souslic colonies in the area.
In the late afternoon we will drive to the Eastern Rhodopes Mountains, where we will be staying for the next 4 nights.

26, 27, 28 May 2008
These days we will be staying in the area of Madjarovo using our special hides for photographing Black, Griffon and Egyptian Vultures feeding on the carcass. There are good chances of photographing other birds of prey coming to the carcass here, like the Eastern Imperial Eagle, White-tailed Eagle, Black Kite, etc.

We will also survey the cliff formations in the area for Rufous-tailed Rock Thrush, Rock Nuthatch, Rock Bunting, Somber Tit.
We can put tent-hides along the Arda river where there are very good chances of photographing feeding Black Storks.
The surroundings of the town of Madjarovo are also very good for Scops and Little Owls.

29 May 2008
Today we travel to the Western Rhodopes Mountains where we will stay in the area of the Trigrad Gorge for three nights. We will be driving in the Rhodope Mountains crossing lots of picturesque and scenic areas.

30, 31 May 2008
We will spend these two days in the area of the Trigrad Gorge trying to photograph the Wallcreeper. Other species present in the area are the Alpine Swift, Crag Martin, White-throated Dipper, etc.

01 June 2008
